That back one should be some GOOD eating. Nice and young. We cooked up the tenderloin off of my whitetail the other day and it could have been the best thing I have ever ate and generally I am a beef kinda guy.

I am with you on that one. I might get a late season buck tag again this next year, though. It has been a while since I have shot one of them and there are some monsters running around. Hopefully, though, next year I get two Black Hills doe tags and two Wyoming doe tags for the house.

Oh dont get me wrong!! I still buy a buck tag every year, just incase a monster presents himself!! But since 2004 the tags have gone to waste!! Chalk it up as a donation I guess!! I told the wife I will not shoot one unless he is the same size or bigger, then my mount!! May be a hard one to do!! He scores 147 3/8"!!

I'm pretty sure, if done correctly, one could pull a 180+ class buck out of my area. The typical (at least 5 that I know of each year) bucks score about 140 and they are shot buy guys that don't hunt real hard and do NO scouting. I could tell you where the big guys live, too, and in a couple of weeks when season is over I think I might have to bust them out and get some good pictures. No promises, though. These guys are SMART. There is a reason they got this big. And for those of you smart alecks out there, no I'm not talking about mule deer. We do have some monsters of those around too.

Nice job, Duc. With the price of groceries, it's worthwhile to stock up the freezers with all the venison they'll hold. And those does will be some fine eating. I take a buck every season, then fill up on does, as many as my freezer will hold. The buck is usually made into jerky and stew meat/BBQ (crockpot stuff), but the does are for tender, tasty steaks.

The other reason I shoot so many does is that here you can get 2 for the price of 1!! A bonus tag on every antlerless permit!! Cant beat that deal!!
