So, long story short, I bought my boyfriend a black lab. He was 11 weeks when I got him and he was so cute, and like our child. His name was Jet. After couple weeks, though, he died overnight with Parvo. (I researched...) He had all his shots and dewormer but he still got it. It was awful, and now I'm afraid to get another dog. We miss him terribly, but he said I could get another one if I wanted... It's been a month. Any suggestions? What should I do or get?

Well, thats sad and I am sorry to hear the news about Jet. But........ I would get another one, we always know that most likely we will outlive them anyway but just think of the life that you would give a new dog vs. what life it may have otherwise. It could be dumped or shot or just mistreated in general. If you get a new dog, you can rest assured that as long as you have him/her, it will always have a super home and life in general. This is the contribution that we make to our beloved best friends in return for their endless devotion to us. So I say, when your ready....go get another dog and give it the best home and life that you possibly can and when that one passes (hopefully from extreme old age) you will turn around and start the process all over again to ensure that at least one more dog will be assured of a blessed life on earth. :D

Agreed 100%. Very sorry to hear about Jet. I know it will make you guys feel better with a new little puppy running around. My mom had to put down our chocolate lab that we had when we were growing up and she swore that she would never have another dog after that. She lives alone since all of the kids are out of the house now, so one year for mother's day my wife and I brought her a new chocolate lab puppy. Long story short, I am not sure what she would have ever done without getting a new dog. I am not saying to go out and get a new pup right away, but like Birdman said, in time, make sure you do. You won't regret it.
